UIDAI lets users of Aadhaar cardsto change their address without the need for documentation. Aadhaar card holders were able to change their address if they do not have evidence of their identity.

New Delhi: The Unique Identification Authority of India has temporarily suspended a crucial service that lets you alter your Aadhaar card's address without document of your address.

UIDAI allows holders of Aadhaar cards to change their address with no need for any form of documentation. Aadhaar card holders can update their address only if they have consented to the verification to the identity verifier. An address verifier could be a close friend, relative, landlord or family member that allows the Aadhaar card user to verify their address.

UIDAI is now stopping this feature. UIDAI has responded to an Aadhaar Card card holder via Twitter by announcing that the option to update address on the Aadhaar Card via Address Validation Letter was canceled. UIDAI has requested an Aadhaar issuer to notify the user that they may update their address by using another accepted PoA document.

Dear Resident Attention: The Address Validation Letter service has been discontinued until further notice. Kindly request your address update using another valid PoA document from the list https://t.co/BeqUA0pkqL
